This is the interesting part in the Javanese Baby Shower. Choosing and Cutting Coconut. There were two coconuts with stickers father have to choose with closed eye. Kamajaya will represent male baby and Dewi Kusumoratih will represent female baby. After that father will cut the coconut with one blow. If splashed coconut water will represent male baby and drip coconut water will represent female baby.
These are picture of my dessert table during baby shower. The part I like is the baby dragon illustration which was made by my sister in law. She is talented. We put this baby dragon picture on sticker and on baby T-Shirt. Why dragon? Because my daughter will born at the end of water dragon’s year. Dragon’s tail :-). For the dessert, there were many variation from strawberry fruits to macaroons. I like how we put baby dragon sticker on Kitkat chocolate. For me, dessert table is the best time for family to explore their creativity. Even my parents and parents in law contribute to create this dessert table. Weird? I hope not. How about you? Continue from previous post about my wife’s baby shower. All foods are in 7 quantities. There are 7 yellow rice with 7 kind of side dishes. All side dishes are vegan. Also, there are other desserts in 7 quantities such as porridges, colorful sticky rice. Besides foods, my wife also have to change batik 7 times. There is one picture that show 7 batik in different pattern. Each pattern have their own meaning. Next post I will show you my dessert table during this baby shower.
My previous post about Javanese Baby Shower only contain one photo because of the requirement for the tournament. In this post, I showed you several images during our baby shower. Jasmine is the main flower during baby shower. This ceremony held in our house in our garage. Basically there are two places required. The first is sofa for main family and the second is the place for shower. Shower water was coming from 7 springs. We put 7 kind of flowers on the water. Mother will receive shower 7 times. There are a lot of number 7. This baby shower ceremony was also held on 7 months pregnancy. Maybe if I calculated numbers of Jasmine flower, the total will be multiples of 7. But I don’t think so. hehe
Actually, several foods are also 7 kinds and 7 quantities. I will show you on the next post. 🙂

I need to travel several second to my garage to get this photo. 🙂 This is my wife during our baby shower on Javanese tradition. She wears batik truntum garuda and a lot of jasmines. She got nice scent of jasmine. Baby shower usually held at 7 months pregnancy. Each place will have different culture. Although in the same culture, different family will have different heritage about baby shower. However, the purpose is the same which is to wish all the best for both mother and baby.
